Hi

In today's #LunchNLearnWithLindsay my focus is on keeping a CPD (Continuous Professional Development) Log.Β

As a professional #coach and #trainer I keep a log of all the activities I'm involved in that contribute to my personal and professional growth.Β  But as an #EA, #PA, #VA and #AdminProfessional do you?Β  If not, it's something I would highly recommend and encourage you to do.Β Β

βœ”Attach your CPD log to your CV when applying for a new role. This is evidence to potential new employers that you value investment in YOU - you are keen to put into practice the most up to date learning and skills and know this will contribute to the success of your Executive and organisation.

βœ” At interview, highlight your log and your commitment to CPD. Find out what learning and development support is available for you – is there a training budget? What’s the protocol for requesting and securing training at the organisation? Remember the interview is a two-way process.Β  It is your opportunity to find out more about the values, ethos and culture of an organisation and whether you’re going to be valued in terms of up-skilling.

βœ” Logging down your CPD (ANY activity that contributes to your growth) means you’re more likely to consider HOW to implement the new learning and to commit to putting it into practice and reflect on the impact it’s having.

βœ” The headings I use in my CPD log are:

Hours
How many hours activity was involved?

Date
When did you do this?

Description
What was it all about?

Learning Outcomes
What did you intend/expect to learn?

Verification and Reflection
How well did the activity meet your outcomes? What will you put into practice? What other learning needs did it highlight or spark an interest in for you?

Regularly review this box.Β  Update how you're progressing with putting your learning into practice and identify the impact it’s having.

........and my final note is to log down this weekly #LunchNLearnWithLindsayΒ  - it might only be a 5 minute read once a week, but with valuable, relevant content and a commitment from you to put your newfound learning into practice it could be "the difference that makes the difference"!

Wishing you a great week of CPD.
